Russ Henderson, took this picture up the main Salmon River between Riggins and French Creek on February 8, 2010. The circle is turning clock wise from the current flowing downstream from the right. By the next day, it had worn the ice hook off to the left and had gone down stream and broken up. It must have been at least one hundred feet in diameter.

Stillaguamish River system to close to fishing
Action: Close the Stillaguamish River to fishing.

Effective dates: Feb. 18 through June 4, 2010.
Species affected: All game fish species.
Closure locations:

- The Stillaguamish River from sloughs south of Marine Drive to forks.
- The North Fork of the Stillaguamish from the mouth to Swede Heaven Bridge.

- The South Fork of the Stillaguamish from the mouth to the Mt. Loop Hwy. Bridge (above Granite Falls).
- Canyon Creek from the mouth at the South Fork of the Stillaguamish to the forks.
Reason for action: This action will reduce the incidental hooking mortalities of wild steelhead.
